Honesty and Responsibility

Charles requested me to get him a new phone today. I asked why because he has a phone being provided by their company. He works for his Dad. They own a custom architectural millwork business. He said, I dont want Dad paying for my phone , It's just not right because I use it to make personal calls. Personally, I didnt like what Ive just heard. I dont want another bills. My company pays for my phone and I use it to make personal calls, too. Then he replied, which you shouldnt be doing!

My husband is always honest. I don't rememeber him telling a lie, well, maybe when he says Im light as a feather If I asked about my weight. lol. He knows, he's not supposed to say bad words. He knows how to make me smile. haha.

I admire Charles for being responsible. He bought his first car from his parents and paid them from his own earnings. He had to get a car to go to work at the age of 16 at a local auto factory. His parents paid half of his tuition in college and Charles paid the other half and the rest (apartment, food, utilities). He attends class in the morning and work at night. He took Electronics Communication and graduated with GPA of 3.86 (highest is 4.0). Hes very smart. At the age of 21, he bought his first house.

Charles is always very considerate. He never ask anything from his parents or to anyone.

In the Philippines, we are used to having our Parents do the spending for us. Some people are still living with their parents along with their family. They dont even contribute for food and utilities. It's depressing.

I learned so much from my husband. Everytime he does something extraordinary, it makes me reflect all my wrong doings and yet so hapy to have learn and follow his ways. He's a very good role model. I want my kids to be like him, honest and responsible. I want to raise my kids here in America where kids learns responsibilty at a young age.

I forgot, again!

Today, I forgot to bring my wallet again!

It was a bad day. I didnt have breakfast because I was already late for my first appointment and forgot to grab a banana on my way out. I didnt have lunch because I dont have my wallet with me. No candies or even pennies in my car! Gladly, I still have water from yesterday.

My husband always tell me to put at least $50 bucks hidden inside your car for emergency. Well, I keep forgetting my wallet and have used the money for gas or food. And never been able to replace it. Why? Im simply irresponsible. Yes, I just said t.

It happened 3x that Charles rescued me. He had to drive 45 minutes to put gas into my car. He did say, he will never do it again so I will learn my lesson. Is that why he never answered my call today? The nerve! He blamed his faulty cellphone. Hmmnnn.

You would think I will remember to bring my wallet today since I forgot it yesterday. Luckily, I took a banana and had $5 in my coat plus my car is fully loaded with gas...it barely saves me today, too. When I got home, my car says 8 miles to empty...lol.

I got home around 7:30pm. I was grouchy and sooo hungry. I wasn't gonna tell my husband because I know he will just scold me, again. But I cant keep a secret and he always know when Im hiding something, so I told him anyways...he simply said, Ive been a bad girl and will not take me to "Trick or Treating" as punishment...what????????? I know he was joking but he seems so serious, Im not sure. Hmmnn....But then, he made me dinner and set up the table...After dinner, he went to put money inside my car becasue he said I will never do it. Thanks Sweety...:)

I just dont forget my wallet but with a lot of things, too. The reason I dont usually bring my purse becasue I will just forget it in the store or anywhere.; When we go out, My husband pays for everything.

I dont know what to do. I am so irresponsible. You would think I should have learned my lessons by now but its becoming a habit. Its scary! I need help!

$5000 Bonus

I spoke with my Boss today and offered me a $5000 Bonus if I sign a 3 year contract with the company, and also promised to make me the Director Of Rehab after I finished my "secret" lol. Which I'm hoping soon...Ive been procrastinating, Im so closed...But Im not going to say it here, baka ma-jinx pa! haha.

Anyways, $5000 is actually lower than what was being offered from the other company early this year, they offered $10000....but I refused...as if much molah ako...It's not that I dont like that company, Im just not at ease with them. But this time, Im debating...coz I planned to take a vacation next year but was having 2nd thoughts because financially Im not comfortable. We have 2 houses which were paying 2 mortgages every month, another hunting property up north...at the end of the month, our pocket is empty. I can go on and on with the list of our bills here, its never ending....Thats America!.....but anyways, I am really thinking about this. Its been over 2 years since the last time I went to the Philippines. I missed my family back home...but then, I will be stuck with this company for 3 years? Ive been with this company for 3 months now, I have seen ups and downs....I have mixed feelings........I've never sign a contract before, Im always been a freelance and I like it because I can hop to one company to another If I want to. I think I am blessed to have a very high-damand career, instead of these company interviewing for prospect employees...but rather, I interview them! lol.

Charles 34th Birthday

It was a nice celebration. His actual birthday was on Monday but we celebrated it over the weekend. We went to Hooters for dinner on Saturday. We were gonna watch a movie after dinner but nothing seems to catch our taste. We went home instead and Charles played his new nintendo wii racing game that he got for our friends and finished it in just 3 hours...wow! We had fun, it was like watching a real racing game! Before I went to bed, I made his most requested triple layer chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. The next day we had a great breakfast. I prepared blueberry and chocolate chips pancakes, sunny side up eggs, and Bob Evans patty sausage. We had his chocolate cake at lunch and went to the Chinese Restaurant at 3pm. It was my guilt free weekend. lol

I feel bad though because yesterday I got home pretty late from work. I was gonna ask him to have dinner at his favorite restaurant but when I got home he was chowing. He cooked dinner on his birthday! I've got to make up for this!

Scarf

Today, I got home from work at 4pm, thats earlier than normal since i usually get home between 6-7pm. So I thought of going to the mall to look for some insulated pants but I wasnt able to find one. Instead, I splurge myself with new cashmere scarfs. It's soft and warm. Im getting ready for winter!

When I got home I feel like Im going to throw up for what I just did. I feel guilty. I cant imagine buying myself a cashmere scarf for big buck$$ but I did it anyway and bought 3!!! I was also glad that hubby wasnt home so I hurriedly cut the tags. lol. He doesnt prevent me from buying stuff, he's actually very giving but he's always my conscience. He usually ask me these questions: is it necessary? another one? do you really need it? how much? then followed by, what?

So, I have decided to return 2 of them tomorrow. I am still debating which color to keep. But before anything else, I will have to look into the garbage and hopefully I'll find the tags. Charles just put the garbage away. Toinksz.

Fleece Lined Jeans

The cold weather is not fun especially now that I've lost some of my insulation...lol (read my previous blog "Insulation".

My husband suggested me to buy a fleece lined jeans to keep me warm in the cold weather. He wears them all the time plus a silk underpants, at least 6 mos during the cold season. I never wear them before because its bulky. Today, I tried it and it really feels warm.

I have been looking everywhere, online and offline...I just can't find a women's fleece lined jeans that is not Relaxed, tapered leg fit! Why on earth these manufacturers does not make them in boot cut or straight leg? why it has to be the old fashion cut? argh!

I love shopping but looking for something in particular that is soo hard to find makes shopping a pain in the butt!

Insulation

Lately, I have been feeling so cold. In the past, the cold weather doesnt bother me. I normally doesnt wear bulky clothes coz I feel suffocated. Im comfortable and warm with just a fleece jacket on a freezing day. It has been annoying that I had to wear 3 layers of clothing plus a fleece robe and mukluks footwear to keep me warm in the house. We normally keep our house at 62-65 deg.F to save gas. It was a comfortable temperature. Last night when we went out to have dinner, it was just so cold and it was only 45 deg.F. Its not even snowing yet. The kids at the parking lot we're just wearing skirts and shorts???? oh my, suddenly I am sensitive to cold. Hubby noticed that I was shivering, I told him about my dilemma...he simply said, thats because you have lost all your insulation! lol. I didnt even think about that! I have lost 30 lbs since June and 30lbs of fat is a lot of insulation. haha.

Whiner

I dont like people who constantly whine, some answers are pretty obvious but they dont pay attention. I don't like people who complains a lot, I dont want to hear it. I refused. It irritates me. If someone confides in me I simply tell them, just move on! I dont want to complicate my mind with other peoples problem, I dont have time for that. Well, its just me, selfish? maybe...lol

I am the type of a person that rarely get annoyed or bothered by anything (except for the above mention traits, lol. well, I only keep it to myself, I dont tell.) Above all things, I usually go with the flow. I rarely complain. If I do, that means Im hungry! well, that's according to my husband. He said I get nasty when my stomach is empty. But anyways, according to my friends and co-workers, Im likable and easy to go along with. So, when I hear anything bad, I dont like to hear it. I feel offended. Especially if they backbite and I dont even know the person they are talking to, I feel bad for that person and that will only make me not liking you. I believe that when you said something to other people, it reflects the real you.

Seven tricks for your Nintendo Wii

Tue Oct 21, 2008 3:56PM EDT

Buzz up!on Yahoo!www.yahoo.com

You didn't think your Nintendo Wii was a one-trick, Wii Sports playing pony, did you? Techradar.com compiled a list of seven tricks that can squeeze more out of your Nintendo Wii. Here are my personal favorites:

1. Email a chum's Wii: You'll need to have a record of those damnably unmemorable friend codes for anyone you want to mail, but once you do it's simple: just drop a message to w[friendcode]@wii.com. For instance, w1234567891011@wii.com.

6. Fix stubborn Wiimotes: If you're having trouble getting a new or borrowed Wiimote to synch with your console, there's a way to make the Wii completely forget about all the remotes it's paired with so that you can start afresh. Turn the Wii off and unplug it from the wall. Wait 30 seconds, then plug it in and turn it on again. When the Health & Safety warning pops up, open the flap on the front of the Wii, then press and hold down the red SYNC button for 15 seconds. And that's it - all the synced controllers will be forgotten. Then pair all your Wiimotes with the console using the standard method.

7. Use your Wiimotes with your PC: Yep, the Wiimote uses standard Bluetooth wireless tech to talk to the console - which means it can also work with a PC. So your Wii controller can double up as a remote control for movie watching, or you can even play any game with it. You'll need either built-in Bluetooth support or a USB adaptor in your PC, plus free app GlovePIE to get it working. There's a little bit of faff involved, but the instructions at the GlovePIE site will talk you through it. You can also download pre-made profiles for specific games.

Of course, I have a few tricks up my sleeve that I like to use with my Wii.

Turn the Wii into a YouTube machine: Here's an obvious one that I just don't see enough people using. Using the Wii's Opera-powered Internet Channel (which you have to purchase from the Wii Shop for 500 points), you can simply browse to YouTube.com to watch your favorite video moments on your big-screen TV. Additionally, you can plug in any USB keyboard or the Logitech Cordless Wii Keyboard to make Internet browsing and YouTube oogling a complete breeze. Boom goes the dynamite!

Utilize the homebrew channel: This one takes a little bit more trickery than the others. Using your copy of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, you can install a freeware "homebrew" channel that allows you to run unofficial software on your Nintendo Wii. There are emulators, games, media players, and more—the potential is limitless. However, the legality of this is hotly debated, and your warranty may be voided, so proceed with caution.

Want more out of your Wii? Head over to Techradar.com to see the full list. Have any secret tips of your own? Fire away in the comments below.

Charles upcoming birthday

I have been contemplating on what to get for my husbands birthday next Monday...I have tried to listen to any hints on what he wants for his birthday, he only asked for a triple layer chocolate cake with chocolate frosting from scratch, well, he always request that every year for the last 6 years that we've been together. (the picture attached here is from his last yrs bday)

Anyways, what does a man wants when he has almost everything in his garage, he's a handyman and he's garage looks like a retail store. Last year I got him some clothes, the other year i got him some electronics stuff. Ahhh...why it is so hard to pick a gift for him?

What does a man wants on his birthday?

Road Sign Invoice

Over a month ago I was in a car accident. A huge Pick up truck hit the rear end of the passenger side of my SUV. My Jeep is totalled. I didnt get a ticket but she did. I strained my neck and refused to take pain pills and muscle relaxant because I downt want the effects on my liver. The Doctor made the right decision of prescribing Physical Therapy and referred me as my own therapist. haha. Within 3 days, Im amazed that I was able to move my neck without so much pain and I was pain free with full ROM in a week. Physical Therapy actually works! haha. A piece of advice, if you sprained/strained some part of your body, apply ice 15-20 mins every hour with gentle stretching for the next 24-36 hours. After that, apply heat 15-20 mins 2x/day.

But anyways, after I wrote my blog entry about Parking Ticket, I went to get our mails in the mailbox. This time, I got a bill from the City Of Burton for a Road Sign Repair. Apparently, I will have to pay the road sign that was damaged during the accident even if it wasnt my fault? Dang! all of these traffic and parking tickets taking all my money! I am so pissed. I am going to call them for an explanation...and I will also call my insurance if they are supposed to pay for it. Haay!

Parking Ticket

Last week when I was at my patients home, a neighbor knocked on their door and informed me that a police officer just issued a parking ticket on my car. Reason: I was blocking the sidewalk. Its my first ever Parking Ticket. Dang! Its so stupid. I think the city of Detroit need money that they spend a lot of time issuing parking ticket. Theres so much crime in the area, can they focus on that instead? Im so bothered that i almost didnt send my payment but I dont want them to impound my car. So today I send my $30 fee and admit my responsibility with explanation. I told them that I purposely park my car away from the steps because we need that so much clearance to train my patient to go up and down the steps. I knowingly block the sidewalk but I cant park along the side of the road because that was a garbage pick up day and so many garbage cans that I cant find a place to park. I hope they will consider my valid reasons.

Homework

Yesterday, I received an email from my 14 yr old niece asking for help with her homework. Here's the letter:

  • Hi Aunt Marissa and Uncle Chuck! How are you guys doing? I'm sure you were
both busy with work today. I have a few questions for you to help me out
with my Freshman Focus homework. We are doing a project in the class, where
we go around asking different people questions about their jobs. I was
wondering if you guys would take some time, and each separately answer these
questions. This would help me out a lot!

I hope to hear from you soon!

    Love,
    Hale
  • QUESTIONS:
  • #1: Please tell me a bit about your job.
#2: What do you like best about your job?
#3: What do you find most challenging about this job?
#4: What education/training do you need for this job?
#5: What skills do you use everyday?

Also, if you know what pathway you are in (Arts & Communication, Human
Services, etc.), it would be greatly appreciated if you included that in
    your response.

So, heres my answer to her questions:

#1: Please tell me a bit about your job.
I am a Physical Therapist, it is a health care profession which provides services to individuals to restore loss of function due to injury, aging, disease or other environmental factors.
Physical Therapist are responsible for examing the patient or client; evaluating the results; determining goals; and planning, implementing and evaluating a physical therapy program. This typically includes educating and instructing patients and their families. Example, we help Stroke patients regain their function and strength back so that they will be able to walk again. We help them to be independent with most of their activities of daily living so that they dont have to depend on others.

Physical therapists practice in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, schools, sports and fitness facilities, work settings, and nursing homes.

#2: What do you like best about your job?

It is a very rewarding career. I am happy to see my patient able to walk again, especially when I see the smile in their face and thanking me for a job well done, it's a very nice feeling.

#3: What do you find most challenging about this job?

When I work at the Nursing Home, our job requires physical strength because most of our patients came from the hospital. The transition is very difficult because we're dealing with acute injuries and most of them are elderly. I find it challenging when they dont want to participate with the program because they are in pain and depressed. At the end of our treatment, I feel their pain in my back because i did most of the work even if they can do more but refused to get better.

#4: What education/training do you need for this job?

I graduated from the Philippines. Our school system is somewhat different from the United States. BS Physical therapy is a full time 5yrs program. The 5th year is our Clinical Internship Program. After graduation, we also have ongoing continuing education program for updates with new treatment strategies, etc.

#5: What skills do you use everyday?

Aside from knowledge and experience, its the holistic approach and great smile when I attend to my patients.

What about you? Please share us your answers to these questions. Thank you.

Autumn

I love the Fall colors. It is one of my favorite season.

When I wake up this morning I was excited to see our Maple Tree starting to turn into bright orange, Its funny though because only the NorthEast part of the tree changed its color. I looked at the other neighboring trees, some are still green and the other one has changed its color in the opposite side. I wonder about the science behind this. Im too lazy to google it. :)

But anyways, Im too excited that I changed my Multiply Theme into Autumn. I hope you guys like it.

My Political Views

I have watched the debates and campaign rallies, I believed that Obama-Biden ticket will make a good team to govern the United States.

I was disappointed of McCain's tactic, he' sneaky. McCain chose Palin as a way to trick women into siding with him. He saw that once Obama picked Biden instead of Hillary Clinton for his VP, he thought that this would work for him! Boy, was he wrong! But, to say that women voters are simply going to vote for Sarah Palin because she is also a woman seems a little degrading. Are those with these thoughts insinuating that women are not smart enough to choose a candidate based on his or her performance and would just support any woman regardless of their motives? Is this what John McCain and Sarah Palin are thinking, too? To put it bluntly, Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton. Nor does she have the vision and brilliance of Barack Obama. This is an incredible insult to most American women. Just how stupid does he think we are?

I agree with Joy on The View, Sarah Palin is dumb! yeah! I have watched all her interviews especially with Katie Courick. This woman cannot answer a question with a straight answer -- she's all over the place and dodges every question because she doesn't have a freaking answer.

I am going to have pages and pages about how ignorant is Sarah Palin if I dont stop here.
